Eli — Growing, Thriving, and Living His Faith at Able to Serve
When Eli’s high school teacher first mentioned Able to Serve in Garner, NC, his mother, Victoria, wasn’t sure what to expect. But from the very first visit, it was clear this was a place where Eli could thrive—and what followed has been nothing short of inspiring.
A Community Where Eli Shines
Eli has always been outgoing, friendly, and eager to connect with others, but at Able to Serve (ATS), he’s learned how to channel his natural social gifts into meaningful relationships. He’s discovered how to build genuine friendships, strengthen bonds with family and peers, and communicate his thoughts, needs, and feelings effectively—all while making room for others to do the same.
“The friendships he’s formed at ATS are truly special,” Victoria shares. “Watching him enjoy time with his friends outside of the program fills my heart with joy.”
Growth Through Challenges
One of the most remarkable changes in Eli has been how he handles challenging situations. Through ATS, he’s developed patience, understanding, and the ability to express his emotions calmly. The program emphasizes acceptance and Godly principles, helping Eli understand that everyone is unique and that we should love and accept each other as God made us.
Independence and Advocacy
Eli was born with an independent spirit, and ATS has helped him embrace that while learning it’s okay to ask for help when needed. He’s also learned the power of advocacy—both for himself and for others. Victoria notes, “The program has increased his confidence by giving him opportunities to grow, and also to teach others what he’s learned.”
Faith in Action
Faith has always been central to Eli’s life, and ATS has strengthened that connection. He lives out his belief in Jesus daily, showing that through faith, challenges can be met and growth is always possible.
A Family’s Gratitude
For Victoria and her family, ATS has been transformative. It’s a place of love, hope, and security, where Eli is celebrated for who he is. “Our family gets to enjoy Eli’s journey and show our community that we are all made uniquely by God,” she says.
Eli loves the fellowship, the friendships, and the community he’s found at ATS. And for his family, seeing him grow, thrive, and become more fully himself in this supportive, faith-filled environment is a daily joy.
