Celebrating World Autism Awareness: Supporting Our Community

Our Commitment:

At Able to Serve, we proudly join the global celebration of World Autism Awareness this April. Autism is not simply a condition to be managed but represents a diverse spectrum of abilities, perspectives, and gifts that enrich our community. We recognize that each individual brings unique strengths and challenges, and we are committed to creating spaces where everyone can thrive according to their God-given potential.

Understanding Adult Autism: By the Numbers

  • 2.2% of adults in the United States are on the autism spectrum
  • 5.4 million adults in the U.S. are diagnosed with autism
  • Up to 80% of adults with autism may be undiagnosed or misdiagnosed
  • 65% of adults with autism report experiencing social isolation
  • Only 24% of adults with autism participate in community activities

How Able to Serve Helps:

Our program is designed for adults with developmental disabilities, including autism:

  • Supportive Environment: A welcoming space that understands unique needs
  • Structured Activities: Developing life skills through meaningful engagement
  • Person-Centered Approaches: Recognizing individual abilities and challenges
  • Community Connection: Volunteer projects that foster social bonds
  • Faith-Based Support: Acknowledging the inherent value and purpose in every person

Through our day program and community outreach initiatives, we help adults with different abilities connect with others while discovering their gifts and purpose. We are privileged to support individuals on their journey toward greater independence and community engagement.
