Game, Set, Match! Discovering potential on the Tennis court

Building Skills, Building Confidence

Excitement and curiosity filled the air. Our participants gathered for a new experience. Thanks to an incredible partnership with Kristin and her team at Abilities Tennis NC, we introduced our participants to tennis fundamentals.

What started as a simple introduction quickly became something much more meaningful. First, our participants learned proper grip techniques. Then, they practiced their swings. Finally, they rallied back and forth energetically. Meanwhile, we watched their confidence build and transform. Each successful hit brought smiles. Additionally, each improvement sparked pride. Furthermore, each encouraging word from Kristin’s team built confidence.

Opportunities like these extend far beyond learning a new sport. While our participants practiced tennis fundamentals, they also developed coordination. Moreover, they played sports in a team setting. Best of all, they discovered a new passion they never knew they had! Some participants initially felt hesitant. However, they found themselves excitedly asking when the next session would be.

The excitement from our tennis introduction hasn’t faded. Consequently, we’re thrilled to continue this partnership with Abilities Tennis NC throughout the summer. Our participants will keep practicing their newly learned skills. In addition, they will build on that foundation.

Your Skills Can Make a Difference Too

Kristin’s partnership with us serves as a perfect example. She shows how sharing your talents creates lasting impact in our community. Do you have a skill, hobby, or area of expertise that you’re passionate about? Whether it’s music, art, cooking, gardening, technology, or any other interest, you can likely share that knowledge with our participants.

We actively seek community members who want to make a difference through volunteer opportunities. Your unique skills and experiences could spark a new passion in one of our participants. Alternatively, they could help someone develop confidence in an unexpected area.

If you’re interested in exploring volunteer opportunities, we’d love to hear from you. Similarly, if you want to discover how your skills can make a difference in our community, please reach out. Visit www.abletoserve.org/volunteer to learn more about ways you can get involved.

Together, we’re not just building skills. Instead, we’re building confidence, fostering connections, and creating opportunities for everyone to discover their potential. Sometimes, it all starts with something as simple as picking up a tennis racket.
