Celebrating Champions of Service at the Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Awards
On Wednesday, June 11th, Able to Serve was honored to be part of the 2025 Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Awards Ceremony—a powerful gathering of changemakers hosted at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham. This annual celebration shines a spotlight on the extraordinary individuals, businesses, and organizations who are transforming our region through selfless service and nonprofit leadership.
We were proud to attend and even more proud to celebrate two deeply meaningful nominations that represent the heart of our mission at Able to Serve.

Celebrating Charles Ashley Mann, DDS & Associates – Garner: Corporate Volunteer Award Winners
We also celebrated the incredible honor of Charles Ashley Mann, DDS & Associates – Garner, who were named the recipients of the Corporate Volunteer Award!
This generous and joyful team at Charles Ashley Mann, DDS-Garner embody what corporate volunteerism should look like. Not only have they supported Able to Serve through silent auction donations and event sponsorships, they’ve rolled up their sleeves to serve alongside our participants with energy and compassion.
From leading engaging dental health education sessions to crafting side by side with participants to cheering on athletes at the ATS Games with pom-poms and water bottles in hand, this team knows how to show up with heart. They don’t just give—they connect, and their presence sends a powerful message to our participants: you are seen, celebrated, and worthy.
Businesses like Charles Ashley Mann, DDS & Associates – Garner remind us that when the professional world intersects with purpose, communities flourish. We are thankful to stand beside Sally Bender, Kim Doreauk, Brittany Allen, & Crystal Campbell as they represented their office in receiving this incredible award.

Honoring Sheri Vultaggio: A Testament to Perseverance in Volunteerism
Sheri Vultaggio was nominated for the Perseverance in Volunteerism Award, and no one could be more deserving. Since joining our volunteer family in 2021, Sheri has become a cornerstone of love, creativity, and encouragement in our day program. Drawing from her experience as a teacher and her deep passion for supporting adults with disabilities, she has consistently served two full days each week—bringing crafts, compassion, and connection to everything she touches.
What makes Sheri’s story even more powerful is the way she has responded to personal adversity. After experiencing two strokes in late 2023 and early 2024, Sheri could have easily stepped back. Instead, she chose to fight forward—with prayer, physical therapy, and the support of her community—working tirelessly to return to Able to Serve. Though she now faces new physical challenges and relies on friends for transportation, she continues to show up with a joyful spirit and unwavering love for our participants.
Sheri’s perseverance inspires all of us. Her story reminds us that serving others is not about ease or convenience—it’s about heart. And Sheri’s heart is pure gold.
We are Grateful for Our Volunteers
From our whole team at Able to Serve, we are deeply grateful for Sheri, the Charles Ashley Mann, DDS – Garner team, and every single volunteer who makes our mission come alive. The work we do—empowering adults with disabilities to be included, equipped, and serving—is only possible because of the incredible people who walk beside us every step of the way.
We’re honored to serve alongside such passionate, faithful people—and we’re always looking to welcome more!
