Spring 2021 Newsletter: Growing in Faith

For many individuals with disabilities, church is a place where they can be themselves, where they can build friendships, where they feel loved. Part of the ministry at Able to Serve is to create that same loving atmosphere for our participants between Sundays.

Daily Devotion. At Able to Serve we begin each day with a time of devotion. In the past year nearly 20 different pastors have led us in devotion either virtually or in-person.

Church Groups. A number of local churches include Able to Serve in their mission weeks. We have hosted groups from Aversboro Road Baptist Church, C3 Church, Garner Christian Advent Church, Faith Community Church, and Fairview Baptist Church among others. Whether these groups came prepared with fun activities for our participants or simply joined in on the regular activities of our day, the relationships that these groups build with us are so meaningful to each participant.

Donations. Sixty percent of the cost for an individual to participate in our program is funded by the community. A portion of this funding comes from local churches who include Able to Serve in their monthly budget or their annual fundraising events.

Because of these connections within the local faith community our participants experience the love of Christ every day and grow in their faith.
