The Heart of Service: Celebrating SERVE Week

Service is at the heart of our organization, driving everything we do on a daily basis. But what does it truly mean to SERVE? We believe it means to Share Jesus’ Love, Expand your reach, Respond to needs, Volunteer with purpose, and Engage the community. This acronym encapsulates everything that guides our mission and reflects our deep conviction that every person is created by God to serve others, following the example set by Jesus.

The Birth of SERVE Week:

From these foundational beliefs, SERVE Week was born: our weeklong challenge designed to create meaningful collaboration with our community toward impactful acts of service. We recognize a simple yet profound truth—making a difference in someone else’s life is easier than we often realize. Through SERVE Week, we encourage participants to focus on deliberate acts of service that demonstrate Christ’s love while creating a positive impact in the lives of others.

SERVE Week in Action:

This year’s SERVE Week brought our community together in remarkable ways. Our participants had the opportunity to engage in various meaningful service projects that touched lives throughout our area: car washes for community members, working alongside Note in the Pocket, our teams unloaded, sorted, and assembled bags, ensuring that children in our community have the clothing and supplies they need to feel confident and ready for school.  Through our partnership with the Backpack Buddies initiative, our participants assembled and delivered food bags, helping ensure that no child in our community goes hungry over the weekend. We also worked with the Interfaith Food Shuttle, multiplying our impact in fighting food insecurity in our community.

The Ripple Effect of Service

We are left inspired, grateful, and blessed for the opportunity to take a week to focus intentionally on the needs of others and discover new ways we can bring joy and comfort through service. But perhaps most importantly, we’ve been reminded that serving others isn’t just about what we give—it’s about what we receive in return: deeper connections, renewed purpose, and the joy that comes from living out our calling to love our neighbors as ourselves.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every volunteer, partner organization, and community member who participated in SERVE Week. Together, we’ve demonstrated that making a difference truly is easier than we realize—it simply requires a warm smile, a willing heart, and hands ready to serve.
