Spooktacular Fun: Halloween at Able to Serve
October was an absolutely thrilling month at Able to Serve! As an organization where fun truly is our middle name, we packed our calendar with Halloween festivities that brought joy, laughter, and valuable learning opportunities to all our participants. At Able to Serve, we believe that fun isn’t just about entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for teaching important life skills. This Halloween season gave us the perfect opportunity to put that philosophy into action, creating memorable experiences that combined celebration with personal growth.
From Shopping to Decorating
Our Halloween celebrations kicked off with an exciting shopping trip to select pumpkins for decorating our facility. This wasn’t just a simple outing—it was a chance for our participants to practice decision-making, budgeting, and social skills in a real-world setting. The excitement was palpable as everyone explored the pumpkin patch and participated in an engaging scavenger hunt that transformed us all into pumpkin experts! Our participants worked together and had a blast while weighing their options and choosing the perfect gourds to bring back. At Able to Serve, the real magic happened when it was time to decorate. Each group received three pumpkins to decorate. Some chose to paint their pumpkins, while others carefully applied stencils. The decorating styles reflected the unique creativity and personality of each group, transforming our space into a festive Halloween wonderland.
Costumes and a Variety Show
The costumes were so much fun—each one was a perfect reflection of the person wearing it, and you could really see everyone’s unique personality shining through in their choices. No Halloween celebration would be complete without a showcase of talents, and our participants did not disappoint! Our variety show was the highlight of the month, featuring performances that demonstrated the abilities and confidence of everyone involved. Each act brought something special.
October may have been a busy month, but it was also one filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see what adventures the rest of the year brings!
