At Able to Serve, we believe every person, regardless of ability, is uniquely created by God to live a full and purposeful life. As we empower adults with disabilities through life skills training, community engagement, and opportunities to serve, we prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone involved. Thanks to the generosity of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, we’ve been able to take a significant step in enhancing our safety measures by purchasing two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)—one for our building and one to take with us on the go.
Our days at Able to Serve are filled with activity. Whether we’re in our building learning life-skills, volunteering in the community, or working on service projects, our participants, volunteers, and staff are always on the move. From packing food bags for children in food-insecure homes to assisting with community clean-up projects at the park, we are deeply committed to making a difference. This level of involvement means that being prepared for emergencies is not just important—it’s essential.
The AEDs we’ve acquired through this grant are game-changers for us. Having one installed in our building ensures that we can respond swiftly to cardiac emergencies during daily programming, giving peace of mind to families and staff. The second, a travel AED, accompanies us wherever we go, providing critical support during off-campus activities.
We are incredibly grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for their commitment to building safer communities. Their generosity is helping us fulfill our mission while prioritizing the safety and well-being of everyone we serve. These AEDs are more than just devices—they represent a commitment to readiness and a reminder of the value of every life.
Thank you, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, for equipping us to serve with confidence and care as we continue to make an impact in our community!
