Serving One Another – Able to Serve Days

Serve is not just part of our name; it’s our favorite activity to do.

As we continue celebrating all of the ways that we are “able to serve” everyday, we maximized our option to serve each other during our program, experiencing Able to Serve Days among our groups throughout February.

“Able to Serve Days” brought us all together as we introduced service to our newest participants and reinforced the growth of our participants who have been learning here for years.  Our shared purpose met our goal of serving in a unique creative way.  The indoor weather kept us warm among the buildings while we moved among our 4 groups – Faith, Hope, Grace and Joy – to expand our friendships alongside each other.

With guidance from our staff and volunteers, learning blocks became team learning blocks as we joined our skills to grow.  Participants who are able to read partnered with new friends who are building on their knowledge.  Puzzles that needed multiple minds at work were solved by groups working together.  Serving treats and food was a featured favorite service too, like Joy Group who prepared Valentine treats with an efficient assembly line and delivered the finished surprises.  Even with their food-prep-friendly masks on, they gave service with a smile.

One service making a big impression on all of us was the affirmation acrostics that participants created for each other.  Each letter of a first name prompted an encouraging word to describe the person.  Check out Jeremy’s acrostic for Andrea and be served by the uplifting words!
